Jay Groome Rebounds With Six No-Hit Innings
2 years agoAfter a terrible start to the 2023 season, Padres pitching prospect Jay Groome turned in six no-hit innings for Triple-A El Paso. He boasts a diverse arsenal of pitches, and all of them were on point in this outing. His fastball, slider, sinker, and curveball all had whiff rates above 40%, resulting in nine strikeouts. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily to start the season, with a 9.13 ERA in the five starts before Tuesday. Most in dynasty leagues have written off the 2016 first-round pick after a string of injury-ridden seasons, but his first promotion to The Show is in sight if he can turn in more starts like this.
