Jay Bouwmeester Out Rest Of Season With Hip Injury
7 years agoSt. Louis Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester will be out for the next four to six months due to a hip injury. After playing through a good portion of the season with the injury, Bouwmeester has elected to soon undergo surgery to address his hip issue. While the 34-year-old rearguard is no longer fantasy relevant (just seven points in 35 games played this season), his injury could certainly have an impact on the team's other defensemen. Bouwmeester's consistent strong play in the defensive zone has always allowed Alex Pietrangelo to have more offensive freedom. On the other hand, Bouwmeester's injury should provide an opportunity for rookie Vince Dunn (four goals and 12 assists) to grab more minutes on the blue line. Keep an eye on Dunn as a potential streamer in the next few weeks.
