Javier Guerra's Stock Up In Crowded Bullpen
5 years agoSan Diego Padres reliever Javier Guerra continues making his case for a roster spot. Through 5 1/3 spring frames, the 24-year-old has fanned five and not allowed a run. Out of options, the team’s No. 24 prospect is hoping his 99 MPH heater and potential to throw multiple innings are key differentiators to cracking the Friars bullpen. A former infielder-turned-pitcher, Guerra ditched the bat last season and registered a 3.38 ERA in 21 appearances across High-A and Double-A. He earned a promotion to the big leagues last year and recorded a 5.19 ERA in 8 2/3 innings. While he holds no fantasy value in standard leagues, Guerra dynasty stock is trending up.
