9 months agoIf a few things had worked out differently on Sunday in the 25-22 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings would have been in the Super Bowl LVIII MVP conversation. The third-year wideout caught four of five targets for 42 yards, including a gigantic 10-yard touchdown reception to give San Francisco the lead early in the fourth quarter. Earlier, in one of the greatest trick plays in Super Bowl history, Jennings took an overhand lateral from quarterback Brock Purdy and launched a pass, all the way back across the field as he was hit, to a waiting Christian McCaffrey for a 21-yard touchdown scamper. Whatever the reason the 49ers couldn't get it done in this one, Jennings himself certainly can't be blamed after the inspired performance. After spending his career to this point as no more than a role player, Jennings will be a restricted free agent this summer and likely be off the fantasy map to start the 2024 season whether he leaves San Francisco or not.--Brad Beltz - RotoBaller
