Jasson Dominguez's Removal Was Planned
6 months agoMany people were connecting dots on Thursday night when New York Yankees star outfielder Juan Soto (forearm) left the game against the Minnesota Twins after a rain delay and then outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez (elbow) was pulled from his minor-league game at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the eighth inning. A team spokesperson said that Dominguez's exit was planned as the 21-year-old works his way back from UCL surgery. Dominguez has regularly exited games during his rehab assignment, so the Yankees aren't suddenly going to stray from their plan to slow-play his rehab now that Soto is hurt. The man they call the Martian has yet to play a full game in the field since starting his rehab assignment, and the Yankees said previously that they plan to keep him at Triple-A when his rehab is up. Even if Dominguez may not make his 2024 debut until the second half of the season, the Yankees' top prospect needs to be stashed in all leagues.
