Jasson Dominguez Moving Rehab To Double-A
10 months agoThe New York Yankees transferred outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez's (elbow) minor-league rehab assignment from Single-A Tampa to Double-A Somerset on Tuesday. Dominguez played in four games for Tampa and went 5-for-13 with a double and four walks before being moved up to Double-A. The 21-year-old they call the Martian is the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery that he had last year. Manager Aaron Boone recently disclosed that once Dominguez's 30-day rehab assignment is up, the team will option him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to continue his rehab/development. If Dominguez swings the bat like he did in 2023, though, it might not be long before he becomes the starting center fielder in the Bronx. He's worth stashing in most redraft leagues.

Jasson Dominguez Hits First Long Ball Of The Spring
2 weeks agoNew York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez cranked his first home run of the spring in Tuesday's 12-3 Grapefruit League win over the Phillies. Dominguez was 2-for-4 on the day with an RBI and a pair of runs scored. The 22-year-old has gotten off to a bit of a slow start, now 4-for-20 (.200) through seven spring games, and has yet to steal his first base, although that should not have any bearing on his fantasy draft stock for now. The Dominican could hit leadoff for the Yankees this season, which should be a boon to his run-scoring production, although on Tuesday, the left-handed hitter batted third. He's dealt with injuries the last two seasons, but if he can manage to stay healthy this year, he's a legitimate 20/20 threat and isn't that expensive with an NFBC ADP of 147.

Jasson Dominguez Could Hit Leadoff For Yankees
4 weeks agoMLB.com's Bryan Hoch projects outfielder Jasson Dominguez to start in left field and bat leadoff for the New York Yankees on Opening Day in 2025. The Yankees could turn to Dominguez as the table-setter this year after they used seven players in the leadoff spot in 2024 -- mostly shortstop Anthony Volpe, who had 76 starts atop the lineup. Manager Aaron Boone thinks Dominguez's skill set will play well in the leadoff role because his mix of on-base ability, power and solid baserunning. The Yankees prefer to use both outfielder Cody Bellinger and infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the heart of the order, with Hoch projecting Bellinger to hit third and Chisholm in the No. 5 spot. Dominguez leading off would obviously be bad news for Volpe, who projects to hit eighth in front of infielder DJ LeMahieu. As long as he stays healthy, Dominguez should be a candidate for a 20-20 season, making him a top-40 fantasy outfield target.

Cody Bellinger Likely To Play Center Field, Jasson Dominguez In Left Field
2 months agoNew York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on WFAN 660 on Tuesday that he will likely use outfielder Cody Bellinger in center field and outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez in left field in 2025. The Yankees can move Bellinger around as needed, including to play first base, while Boone would rather keep Dominguez in one spot in what will be his first full professional season in the majors. Paul Goldschmidt will be the Yankees' starting first baseman, but on days he's used as the designated hitter, Bellinger could slide to first. In addition to being the team's primary left fielder in 2025, Dominguez, along with infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr., will be an option to hit leadoff for the Bombers. Both Bellinger and Dominguez will be No. 3 outfield targets in fantasy, with Bellinger having a safer floor given his experience, but Dominguez certainly has the higher long-term ceiling.

Jasson Dominguez A Leading Candidate To Play Center Field In 2025
3 months agoNew York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said that it "makes sense" to move outfielder Aaron Judge back to right field in 2025 after the team failed to re-sign superstar outfielder Juan Soto. Manager Aaron Boone mentioned outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez as a leading candidate to start in center field next year, even though Trent Grisham remains under contract. Dominguez, a switch-hitting 21-year-old Dominican, dealt with multiple injuries in 2024 and only played in 18 games at the major-league level with the Yankees after debuting in eight games in 2023 in his rookie campaign. He hit just .179 with two homers and five stolen bases in 56 at-bats last year but has an incredibly high ceiling in both fantasy and real life for the Yankees if he finally is given a shot at regular playing time in the Bronx next year. If he plays a full season in the majors and is healthy, Dominguez should be a lock for a 20-20 showing.
