5 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jason Vargas dominated the Giants on Wednesday, throwing a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts. He allowed just five hits and one walk. Vargas lowered his season-long ERA from 4.46 to 3.57 after the start. Vargas had only gone past the fifth inning in one of his previous eight starts on the season, so this game certainly came as a surprise. At best, Vargas is a streaming option against good matchups. His next outing isn't a favorable one, a road start against the Yankees on Monday, so he should remain on waivers.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
