Jason Adam Secures Fourth Save Monday
2 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Jason Adam picked up his fourth save of the season in Monday's 3-0 win over the Orioles. Adam came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by three. He struck the first two hitters out, allowed a single, and got the final out on a third strikeout. Adam has taken over as the team's primary closer with Pete Fairbanks (forearm) on the injured list with right forearm inflammation. Adam was expected to see save opportunities even with Fairbanks healthy and has made the most of his increased role, posting a 1.17 ERA and 11.74 K/9 rate. The Rays are notorious for mixing their bullpen usage, but Adam should be rostered in at least all roto leagues at this time and should be kept whenever Fairbanks does return.
