Jarred Kelenic Sitting Out Friday
6 months agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic (wrist) is out of the team's starting lineup on Friday in D.C. for a matchup against the division-rival Washington Nationals. Kelenic will miss a second straight game after he hurt his wrist while making a diving catch on Wednesday. Adam Duvall will make left field for Atlanta and will bat sixth against Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. Kelenic's injury isn't considered serious, so fantasy managers could have him back as soon as Saturday's contest against the Nats. The former sixth overall pick in 2018 by the New York Mets will see more playing time the rest of 2024 with Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) out for the year, although he's still better off in fantasy lineups when he's facing a right-hander. Kelenic is hitting .264/.305/.403 with three homers and 12 RBI in his first 48 games for the Braves. UPDATE: Kelenic hit in the cages on Friday and wanted to play, but manager Brian Snitker felt one more day of rest wouldn't hurt. Kelenic is feeling better and it sounds like he'll play on Saturday if all goes well. He's available to pinch hit on Friday.
