Jared Shuster Transitioning To Starting Role
34 seconds agoChicago White Sox left-hander Jared Shuster, the 25th overall pick by the Atlanta Braves in 2020 out of Wake Forest University, is transitioning from a setup role last year into a starting role in 2025. Shuster is looking to raise his pitch count in spring training and will start the team's Cactus League opener this Saturday against the Chicago Cubs. The 26-year-old southpaw appeared in 39 games (four starts) in 2024 in his first year in Chicago and posted a 4.30 ERA (4.58 FIP) and 1.45 WHIP with 56 strikeouts and 33 walks in 73 1/3 innings pitched. Although Shuster is transitioning to a starting role at spring training in his second year with the Pale Hose, it doesn't mean he'll be guaranteed a rotation spot to kick off the 2025 regular season. If Shuster wins a starting spot, he'll be in play as a low-upside starting pitcher in AL-only formats.
