Jared Jones In Competition For Rotation Spot
8 months agoPittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Jared Jones is in a competition for a rotation spot, according to skipper Derek Shelton. The 22-year-old was the club's second-round pick in the 2020 draft and turned a corner in the 2023 season. The right-hander worked to a tidy 2.23 ERA across 10 starts at Double-A before posting a 4.72 ERA across 16 outings (15 starts) at the Triple-A level. However, he also posted a 3.98 FIP at the minors' highest level alongside a strong 18.6% K-BB%. Jones has shown a strong ability to miss bats in the minors while putting forth improved control. His value in redraft leagues is low in 2024 but his strikeout stuff combined with a quick ascent through the minors makes him a strong dynasty league target moving forward.
