Jameson Taillon Notches Quality Start In Sixth Win
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon recorded his third quality start in the last four outings in Saturday's win over the Red Sox. Taillon went seven innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits. Taillon didn't have his best control, striking out four compared to three walks, but was able to miss bats, generating 15 whiffs. His bread and butter fastball was dependable once again, accounting for nine of his swings and misses with an 88.5 MPH average exit velocity against. Taillon couldn't make it out of the first inning in a start against the Phillies in June but has been excellent since that point, pitching to a 2.59 ERA with a 35:12 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his last 41 2/3 innings. He'll be a must-start for his next scheduled outing against the Marlins, who own the league's fifth-worst strikeout rate.
