James Wood Showing Patient Approach
8 months agoNationals outfielder James Wood is settling in at Triple-A Rochester. Wood is coming off an outstanding spring that saw him hit four long balls while slashing .364/.509/.705 in MLB camp. The former second-round draft pick also displayed an improved approach at the plate while striking out just 13 times and taking 11 walks in 57 plate appearances. Wood's patience at the plate has carried over to Rochester as he has walked (5) more than he has struck out (3) in the early going. The centerfielder's power and speed combination places him among the elite prospects in the game, and improved contact and walk skills will expedite his arrival in the nation's capital.
