6 months agoWashington Nationals outfield prospect James Wood (hamstring) returned to practice with Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday. Wood has been on the seven-day injured list with right hamstring tightness since May 28 and hasn't played in a game since injuring himself on May 23. Wood, 21, is a consensus Top-5 prospect and was having a phenomenal season prior to his injury. Over his first 45 games, Wood has his an astonishing .355 with nine homers, 31 RBI and 10 stolen bases. The 6'7 outfielder has checked most of the boxes needed to reach the next level, but the Nationals being in a rebuild are going to make sure Wood will be up to stay upon his eventual promotion, which is likely to come this summer. First, Wood must get healthy, but once that happens, it is anyone's guess as to how much longer he will be on the farm. Wood's appears to be close and the sooner he hits the field, the sooner fantasy managers can dream of his promotion to the big-league club.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
