Veteran winger James van Riemsdyk has signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets have been in dire need of extra help up front, and van Riemsdyk should add a bit more quality to the attack. The best days are clearly behind the 35-year-old, but van Riemsdyk can still put up points. He notched 11 goals and 27 assists in 71 appearances with the Boston Bruins last season while averaging 13:30 of ice time. The New Jersey native could get a boost in playing time on a weaker squad, which might also slightly improve his productivity. After being the second-overall selection in the 2007 draft, van Riemsdyk has gone on to make 1,011 regular-season appearances in the NHL, recording 628 points (311 goals, 318 assists).--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerRead More News
