James Triantos Breaks Out Of Power Drought
5 months agoChicago Cubs infield prospect James Triantos broke out of his home-run drought on Wednesday, which has lasted since April 23. On Wednesday, Traintos tallied three hits, including a leadoff home run against top pitching prospect Drew Thorpe. Triantos has begun to break out of a cold streak at the plate that has lingered through most of May. In his past 12 games, he holds a .250 average but has only gone hitless in four games and has two three-hit performances in this stretch. The former second-round pick spent the majority of last summer with High-A before logging just three games at the Double-A level to finish the season. He has remained with Double-A Tennessee for the entirety of this campaign and could push for a late-season promotion to Triple-A Iowa. Last summer, Triantos held a strong .285 average with 16 swiped bags. The 21-year-old is already on pace to smash that total, as he has already stolen 14 bags in just 46 games this season. Triantos is currently ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the Chicago system on MLB Pipeline and could become a name to stash in dynasty leagues with his strong contact skills and elite speed once he reaches Triple-A.
