James Paxton Throws Bullpen Session
2 years agoBoston Red Sox southpaw James Paxton (hamstring) threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session on Saturday. Paxton is recovering from a right hamstring strain that he sustained in his first spring training start on March 3rd. He is expected to throw one more session along with two live BPs before pitching in a game. With the pace that he's on, Paxton will likely begin the season on the injured list. The 34-year-old missed the entire 2022 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery and anticipates making a comeback in 2023. He last pitched a full season in 2019 with the New York Yankees and composed a 3.82 ERA across 29 starts. Evidently, Paxton has had a bumpy past few seasons but the Red Sox are hoping to reinvigorate the success that he had just a few seasons ago.
