James Paxton Stifles Red Sox In Dominant Win
6 years agoIt took until his fourth start with the New York Yankees, but starting pitcher James Paxton finally showed the type of stuff his new club has gambled on. The Big Maple went eight shutout innings against the defending champions, surrendering just two hits and a walk while striking out 12. With 110 pitches under his belt, manager Aaron Boone opted to make a change for the ninth, preventing Paxton from getting the complete-game shutout. Paxton doing this against his club's archrival makes it all that more important for his team. The victory equalizes his season record at 2-2, while his ERA now stands at 3.91.
