James Paxton Leaves Start With Back Stiffness
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher James Paxton (back) left his start Thursday early with lower back stiffness and tossed just 17 pitches over two-thirds of an inning against the Angels. That's obviously not good news for the Canadian left-hander, but at least the All-Star break next week will give him extra time to rest if it's a serious injury. Paxton was having a fine season with an 8-3 record, 3.49 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 154 strikeouts in 118 2/3 innings over 19 starts before Thursday. Check back for more updates on his condition.
