James Kaprielian To Start For A's On Wednesday
4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian will make his season debut Wednesday at the Red Sox. The team was in need of a starter after placing Mike Fiers (elbow) and Jesus Luzardo (hand) on the injured list. The tenth-ranked prospect in the A's system, Kaprielian has just 3 2/3 MLB innings under his belt. He relies primarily on a four-seam fastball that averages a healthy 95 MPH while also sporting a slider that was effective in his limited action against Major Leaguers. He'll need a third pitch to make it as a starter long-term, but this is a promising prospect that should be rostered in dynasty formats. Redraft players don't need to pick up Kaprielian for a tough matchup at Fenway, but there's potential there if he can stick in the rotation.
