James Kaprielian Loses Ninth Game
2 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian was hit with his ninth loss of the season in Wednesday's 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Washington Nationals. Kaprielian allowed five runs (two earned) on seven hits while walking one and striking out three in 5 2/3 innings of work. It was the 28-year-old's fourth straight losing decision, and he'll be happy to flip the calendar to September, as he finished the month of August with a 5.59 ERA, 1.79 WHIP, 23 strikeouts and 17 walks in 29 innings over his six starts. In 22 starts in 2022, the right-hander has a 3-9 record, 4.79 ERA (5.20 FIP), 1.42 WHIP, 76 strikeouts and 52 walks in 109 innings in his third major league season.
