James Kaprielian Activated And Starting On Sunday
3 years agoThe Oakland Athletics activated starting pitcher James Kaprielian (shoulder) from the injured list on Sunday in order for him to make his season debut against the Cleveland Guardians. No. 5 starter Adam Oller was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. In three rehab starts in the minors for Las Vegas and Single-A Stockton, Kaprielian allowed 11 earned runs on 15 hits (three home runs) while walking five and striking out 13 in 13 2/3 innings. The 28-year-old right-hander didn't go more than four innings or 84 pitches in those rehab starts, either, so he'll likely be on a relatively short leash in his return to the majors. Despite the good matchup against Cleveland, Kaprielian will be a risky fantasy option in his season debut Sunday.
