Jameis Winston Named Saints Starting QB
3 years agoNew Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston has been named the team's starting QB for the regular-season opener against the Green Bay Packers. He's impressed this preseason, completing 16-for-22 passes for 219 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception through two games, including a 43-yard touchdown bomb to wide receiver Marquez Callaway. The former No.1 overall pick beat out Taysom Hill for the Saints starting quarterback job in training camp. Hill will be used as a gadget player and could steal red zone opportunities away from Winston. The 27-year-old is a borderline QB2, but the Saints are not deep at wide receiver, and he will be without his top wideout Michael Thomas (ankle) for the first couple of months of the season. Winston is currently going as QB30 in FFPC leagues, but expect that number to rise with the latest news.
