Jamaal Williams Starts But Is Underwhelming
6 years agoWith Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin taking over head-coaching duties in Green Bay, many had hoped that the team’s bizarre fascination with running back Jamaal Williams would finally be laid to rest. The opposite seems to have happened, as Williams started in a Week 14 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Williams only had four carries for 17 yards on the day. With a win safely in hand, Green Bay once again turned to running back Aaron Jones down the stretch. There was no indication that Williams would see his role improve and it is hard to predict if he will maintain his starting status. Regardless of how it all plays out, Williams has not been an effective fantasy performer in any scenario at any point this season. He needs a heavy volume of carries to get going and that is never going to happen with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. Even in a desperate situation, Williams should not be relied upon going forward in the fantasy playoffs.
