Jamaal Williams Moves Into Starting Role
6 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams assumed starting duties following an injury to running back Aaron Jones (knee) in a Week 15 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Williams began the season as the starter but was underwhelming and eventually ceded most of his touches to Jones. Jones is feared to have sprained his MCL and may miss the rest of the season. This would leave Williams as a bell-cow back in Green Bay. Williams had his best game of the season against Chicago. He ran for 55 yards on 12 carries and added 42 yards receiving on four receptions. He also ran for a touchdown. The prospect of an every down running back sitting on the waiver wire is appealing, but it is important to remember how much he struggled in the first few weeks of the season. Even if he receives every carry in Green Bay, he is unlikely to top 15 rushes if quarterback Aaron Rodgers is active. It will be risky to rely on such on unreliable player in fantasy football’s championship week in Week 16. Unless Rodgers in inactive, Williams should be avoided in favor of any other reliable RB2 or flex option in Week 16.
