4 years agoTampa Bay Rays left-handed pitcher Jalen Beeks has been tabbed to undergo Tommy John surgery, which will end his 2020 season and likely cut severely into his ‘21 campaign as well. Beeks had become a key member of the Rays’ relief corps this year, having posted a 1.76 FIP with 26 strikeouts in 19 ⅓ frames. After working primarily as a bulk pitcher last year behind starters, Beeks becomes the latest member of the Tampa Bay bullpen to be put on the shelf. Due to the nature of the surgery, owners can likely expect him to next contribute in a sizable manner come the opening of the ‘22 year.--Jesse Borek
