1 year agoCalgary Flames forward Jakob Pelletier will have surgery on his left shoulder next week and will be out indefinitely. The 22-year-old suffered the injury during the first period of a preseason contest versus the Seattle Kraken on Monday when he was driven into the boards by Kraken forward Marian Studenic. Pelletier debuted with the Flames last season after being drafted with the 26th overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and recorded three goals and seven points while averaging 14:11 of ice time per game. He has also impressed in the American Hockey League with 43 goals and 99 points across 101 games in the Flames' farm system over the last two seasons. His return will be on a month-to-month basis moving forward.--Brenton Kemp
