Jakob Marsee Battling Oblique Strain
2 days agoMLB.com's Christina De Nicola reports that Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee (oblique) is in a rehab progression at spring training as he deals with a lower level right-oblique strain. Oblique injuries can be tricky, but the good news is that Marsee's doesn't appear to be very serious. Still, the 23-year-old could be held out of Grapefruit League games initially as a precaution. He was one of the pieces the Marlins acquired from the San Diego Padres last May in the trade involving infielder Luis Arraez. Entering the 2025 season, Marsee is expected to open the year at Triple-A Jacksonville and serve as minor-league outfield depth. The former sixth-round selection of the Padres in 2022 out of Central Michigan University hit a combined .200/.345/.316 with 10 homers, 47 RBI and 51 stolen bases in 137 games with Double-A Pensacola, Double-A San Antonio and Jacksonville.
