Jakob Junis To Serve As Primary Pitcher In Game One Saturday
4 years agoKansas City Royals pitcher Jakob Junis will be the team's primary pitcher in game one of Saturday's doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins, but he won't be getting the start. Ian Kennedy will open the game with Junis to follow. The goal of the plan is to enable Junis to get more innings out of his start by avoiding the top of the order in the first inning. If this becomes a trend, it could help Junis's potential to earn wins on the year and help his production as well, but he of course won't be eligible for quality starts, which hurts his value in a number of fantasy formats. Regardless, Junis can remain on waivers in all leagues at this point.
