Jake Rogers Re-Enters Starting Lineup Tuesday
1 year agoDetroit Tigers catcher Jake Rogers is back in the starting lineup Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds and left-hander Brandon Williamson. In fact, Rogers is starting out of the cleanup spot for just the fourth time this season, all of which have come over the last month. The slick-fielding backstop has struggled at the plate of late, posting a .608 OPS in the month of August followed up by a .448 OPS and monstrous 44% K% across 25 plate appearances so far in September. His average is down to just .205 on the season, although he does have a healthy 16 homers across 95 appearances. Nonetheless, strikeouts continue to be a major concern with a hefty 35.3% K% across 575 career trips to the plate.
