Jake Rogers On The Bench Wednesday
1 year agoDetroit Tigers catcher Jake Rogers is out of the starting lineup Wednesday night against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Bailey Ober. Rogers helped steer the Tigers to a 6-0 victory on Tuesday night with a seventh-inning solo home run as he continues to establish himself as one of the better overall catchers in the American League. While he's hitting just .214, Rogers has 14 home runs, a 9.7 BB%, and a .741 OPS in 76 appearances, good for a 103 wRC+. Add in his elite defense behind the plate and Rogers' 2.0 fWAR ranks eighth among catchers with at least 240 plate appearances and fourth in the American League. The 28-year-old's encouraging season could put him on the fantasy radar in 2024 while he's already an asset in two catcher leagues.
