Jake Rogers May Not Play Again This Year
Jake Rogers (forearm) has been out since July 19 due to a right forearm strain. On Monday, Evan Woodbery of MLive reported that Tigers manager A.J. Hinch was feeling "less and less optimistic" that Rogers would be able to play again this year. There's about a month to go in the season and there's no need for the Tigers to rush the 26-year-old Rogers back to the club, so it certainly seems likely that we won't see him again this year. Rogers was a solid bat for the team this year, slashing .239/.306/.496 with six home runs, 17 RBI and 17 runs over 38 games. Eric Haase is the team's primary catcher with Dustin Garneau backing him up.

Jake Rogers Plays Catch On Monday
Jake Rogers (oblique) was seen playing catch on Monday. Rogers was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 8 with a left oblique strain. Following that transaction, the team noted that the backstop would be sidelined for at least a month. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he slowly increases his workload. Through the early part of the campaign, Rogers has posted a .222/.364/.333 slash line with one triple across six contests. During this brief taste, Rogers has generated a strong 15.4 percent barrel rate and has shown an elite eye at the plate, drawing walks at an 18.2 percent walk rate. While Rogers remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Dillon Dingler to operate as the lead backstop and Thomas Nido to serve as the No. 2.

Jake Rogers Goes On 10-Day Injured List
Jake Rogers (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a left-oblique strain and recalled catcher Tomas Nido up from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. The Tigers also shifted outfielder Wenceel Perez (back) to the 60-day injured list to make room for Nido on the 40-man roster. Rogers lands on the IL after injuring himself taking swings before Tuesday's win over the visiting New York Yankees. Dillon Dingler, who homered on Tuesday, will now take over as Detroit's primary backstop. It's unclear if the 29-year-old Rogers will be able to return when he's eligible to come off the IL on April 18. Before his injury on Tuesday, Rogers had gone 4-for-18 with a triple, three runs scored, four walks and five strikeouts in six games played. Dingler is now on the radar for those in two-catcher and AL-only leagues.

Jake Rogers Scratched With Oblique Tightness
Jake Rogers (oblique) has been scratched from Tuesday's starting lineup against the New York Yankees at Comerica Park due to left-oblique tightness, according to The Athletic's Cody Stavenhagen. Dillon Dingler will take over behind the plate to catch left-hander Tarik Skubal while batting seventh against Yankees right-hander Carlos Carrasco. Rogers came into Tuesday's game hitting .222 (4-for-18) with a triple, four walks and five strikeouts in his first six games of the 2025 season. Dingler is the only other catcher on Detroit's big-league roster, so there's a good chance we'll see Rogers land on the injured list o that the Tigers aren't short-handed at the position. Dingler has gone 6-for-19 with a homer, triple and six RBI in his first six games of the season. He has never faced Carrasco in his two MLB seasons.

Jake Rogers Heading To The Bench
Jake Rogers is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. As expected, Rogers will split up the catching duties after going 1-for-3 with a walk during the season opener. Now, Dillon Dingler will do the catching and bat seventh versus right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Friday. Dingler has the potential to put up good power numbers, but isn't someone that needs to be rostered while stuck in a platoon situation.
