Jake Odorizzi Traded To Minnesota For Minor Leaguer
7 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays traded starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi to Minnesota for a Single-A shortstop by the name of Jermaine Palacios. Odorizzi was the Rays No. 2 starter who went 10-8 with a 4.14 ERA in 28 starts with the Rays last year. He punched out 127 batters in 143 1/3 innings. Minnesota also represents a better ballpark for him than some of the alternatives rumors had him linked to previously. Palacious, an international free-agent signee from 2013, hit .296 with 13 homers, 67 RBI, 20 steals and a .787 OPS between Class-A Cedar Rapids and Fort Myers in his fourth pro season. Despite not being highly regarded by mainstream scouts, the Rays liked his all-around tools, offense, defense and makeup.
