Jake Odorizzi Acquired By Braves
2 years agoThe Atlanta Braves acquired starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi from the Houston Astros in exchange for relief pitcher Will Smith Monday, per Fox 26's Mark Berman. The Braves also traded for outfielder Robbie Grossman in a separate move. Odorizzi missed some time earlier in the season with left leg discomfort but he has produced a respectable 3.75 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 18.8% strikeout rate over 12 starts. Even better for the Braves, the veteran has only logged 60 innings so far this season, so he should be able to eat a chunk of innings for the rest of the regular season and allow some of the Braves' younger arms to rest a bit. Odorizzi is moving from one strong team to another, so his fantasy value won't be all that affected. He remains a streaming option in favorable matchups in deeper leagues at this time.
