Jake Muzzin Out Four Weeks With Broken Hand
5 years agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin will be sidelined for the next four weeks due to a broken left hand. The 31-year-old sustained the injury in the second period of his team's 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday after blocking a shot from defenseman Victor Hedman. Muzzin buried a goal in the first period of the contest, extending his personal point streak to six games (three goals, five assists) before having to depart due to the injury. This news likely ends Muzzin's season in most fantasy formats but there is a possibility he could return to action a few days early. As a result, it might be wise for fantasy owners to stash the Ontario native on an open injured reserve spot just in case.

Jake Muzzin Out For The Season
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin (neck) has been ruled out for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign. He is recovering from cervical spine surgery and won't be able to get game-ready even by the time the playoffs come around. The 32-year-old managed to skate in just four games at the start of the season. The Maple Leafs have done just fine without him, but Muzzin is an extremely experienced player and his know-how as a former Stanley Cup champion can't be underestimated. Muzzin's contract runs through the 2023-24 season, and he has skated in 683 regular-season contests, picking up 69 goals and 225 assists.

Jake Muzzin Out Indefinitely With Spine Injury
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin (neck) is out indefinitely with a cervical spine injury, the team has announced. He has already been sidelined since Oct. 17, having managed to skate in just four games at the start of the season. Toronto is set to re-evaluate him in late February. Muzzin's injury has resulted in a lot of the team's younger blue-liners playing big parts this season. The Maple Leafs have a pretty decent defensive record without him, but their results have left a lot to be desired and they will be hoping for some good news in February.

Jake Muzzin Misses Start Of Training Camp
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin is dealing with discomfort in his back and will miss the start of training camp. It's been projected that he will be available early next week. Muzzin had awful luck with injuries last season and was limited to just 47 regular-season appearances. It wasn't a particularly good year for the veteran as he settled for only 14 points and ended up with a minus-six rating. It's the fewest points he has averaged during the past seven seasons. The 2014 Stanley Cup champion did much better during the postseason, bagging three points in seven games with a plus-four rating.

Jake Muzzin Won't Play On Tuesday
3 years agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin will be scratched for Tuesday's clash with Buffalo. He's just back from a long-term injury and it looks like the team wants to play it safe with him. According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, Muzzin is dealing with an issue that isn't related to the concussion which forced him to miss 20 games. The 33-year-old has made three appearances since returning to action. Muzzin is set to be replaced by Timothy Liljegren on Tuesday. He skated with Morgan Rielly during Monday's practice and could be a very interesting DFS option against a bad team.
