Jake McGee Vultures First Save Of 2018
6 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Jake McGee got the call on Thursday after Wade Davis had pitched a couple days in a row, and he snagged his first save of the season. As with most appearances by Colorado relievers nowadays, it wasn't smooth sailing. Entering the game with a 6-3 lead, McGee immediately allowed a leadoff triple that would score on a ground out by the next hitter. He'd also allow a double later in the inning, but he struck out Brandon Nimmo when he represented the tying run to finish off the Mets. Like nearly everyone in the Rockies bullpen, McGee has been disappointing in 2018, and he's in the middle of a particularly bad stretch, having allowed runs in four of his last five appearances. Wade Davis' job should be safe for now.
