Jake McGee Pitches Clean Eighth Inning Wednesday, Earns Hold
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants relief pitcher Jake McGee pitched a 1-2-3- eighth inning with no strikeouts in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks, earning his second hold of the season. McGee had started the season as the team's closer and had done a nice job, but several bumpy outings have led to him not seeing save opportunities as frequently. He now has a 4.35 ERA and has converted 11 of 13 save opportunities. McGee has not completely lost his fantasy value given that he will likely still be used in high-leverage situations and could still see save opportunities, but he no longer appears to be the surefire closer with Tyler Rogers pitching so well.
