After winning his last bout, Jake Matthews suffered a setback when he was defeated by UFC prospect Michael Morales in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 232 on Saturday. The fight was intense and back-and-forth, but Morales landed enough hard shots to secure a unanimous decision victory. Throughout the fight, Morales' reach presented big problems for Matthews. Another issue for Matthews was that none of his shots bothered Morales. In 15 minutes of action, Matthews landed 57 significant strikes. The loss knocks Matthews down to 12-7 in the UFC.

Jake Matthews returns to the octagon this weekend in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 232. He is set to face off against undefeated UFC prospect, Michael Morales. Matthews (19-6) is coming off a win against Darius Flowers, while Morales is 3-0 in the UFC and is on board the UFC hype train. The 29-year-old Aussie has been in the UFC since 2014 when he was only 20 years old winning his debut via submission. He has struggled for consistency in the octagon and is 2-2 in his last four. He got submitted by Sean Brady and responded by knocking out Andre Fialho. DraftKings sees Matthews as the underdog with a salary of $7,100. In his 18 UFC fights, he scored 67.3 fantasy points.

As a late replacement to the main-card portion of UFC 275, Jake Matthews made the best of the situation and earned a second-round knockout over Andre Fialho on Saturday. In 7:24 of total action, Matthews tallied 47 significant strikes compared to the 18 of Fialho. The two were engaged in a very close back-and-forth striking affair until Matthews landed a big shot halfway through the second round that led to the beginning of the end for Fialho. With seven of his career wins coming by submission, Matthews is showing his striking game can be just as deadly for him moving forward.
