Jake Lamb To Play Some First Base In 2019
6 years agoArizona Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen said that third baseman Jake Lamb will play some first base next year along with third base. 2018 was a lost season for Lamb, who required shoulder surgery. He played in just 56 games and was bad before his injury, hitting .222/.307/.348 with six home runs and 31 RBI. His struggles against lefties (.170/.259/.234) basically made him a part-time player before he got hurt. However, with Paul Goldschmidt traded to the Cardinals, Lamb could serve as the primary first baseman next year. If he can improve against lefties he could return to being a solid power option in a corner infield spot. The 28-year-old hit 59 dingers from 2016 to 2017, so a bounce back is possible.
