Jake Fraley Takes Over At Cleanup Wednesday
2 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley will take over at the cleanup spot Wednesday against New York Mets right-hander Justin Verlander. While it's not a total surprise to see Fraley hit fourth against a right-hander, Wednesday marks his first start out of the four-hole since back on April 23 against the Pirates. The former Mariners outfielder is just 1-for-11 with a walk out of the cleanup spot this season while the majority of his reps have come at leadoff or in the five-hole. Following a productive 2022 season, Fraley has disappointed to a .236 average with just two homers, three steals, and a .691 OPS across 105 trips to the plate so far in 2023.
