Jake Faria Moved To The 60-Day DL Tuesday
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Jake Faria (oblique) has been moved to the 60-day disabled list Tuesday. The move was part of the procedure involved to activate starter Nathan Eovaldi so he can start Wednesday's game against Oakland. Faria was already expected to miss at least six to eight weeks, so the only notable part of the transfer is that it could indicate that the odds are that Faria's absence will be longer than the minimum six weeks that some fans might have been hoping for. In Faria's 86 2/3 innings in the majors during 2017, he struck out 84 batters while issuing only 31 walks. Perhaps the biggest concern is that he also gave up 11 home runs in those 86 2/3 innings. He has more solid outings than terrible ones in 2018, but he should be on the waiver wire in mixed leagues.
