Jake Bloss Activated And Starting On Thursday
5 months agoThe Houston Astros activated rookie right-hander Jake Bloss (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list on Thursday and optioned pitcher Kaleb Ort to the minors in a corresponding move. Bloss will make the start in a very attractive matchup on Thursday at home at Minute Maid Park against the visiting Miami Marlins. However, it will only be Bloss' second major-league start and he'll likely be on a pitch count, so despite the excellent matchup, the 23-year-old is probably going to be a low-upside streamer in deeper fantasy formats. In his big-league debut for Houston on June 21 against the Baltimore Orioles, Bloss gave up two earned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out only two in 3 2/3 innings of work for a no-decision. He landed on the IL on June 22 with right-shoulder inflammation and got up to 55 pitches during a rehab start in the minors.
