Jake Arrieta’s Opening Day Status Uncertain
7 years agoAfter finally signing with the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, former Cy Young winning starting pitcher Jake Arrieta may not be ready to go come Opening Day. The 32-year-old’s signing came quite late, which means he may need additional time to get into season shape. Arrieta, who went 22-6 with a 1.77 ERA en route to the 2015 Cy Young Award, spent part of the last five seasons with the Cubs, winning a World Series. Now with the Phillies, he appears set to be just behind ace Aaron Nola in the starting rotation as the Phillies look to bounce back following a rough 2017 season.
