The Philadelphia Phillies evened their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night behind the arm of former Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta. The 32-year-old tossed seven shutout innings, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out five. While he struck out three times at the plate, his masterful, 103-pitch performance was plenty for his offense, which ultimately pounded out six runs. Earning the victory, Arrieta’s record improved to 5-2 on the year, while his ERA dipped to a terrific 2.16. His next start is tentatively scheduled for Sunday afternoon in San Francisco against the Giants.--RDelgado
