Jaguars Plan To Move On From Blake Bortles
6 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars plan to move on from quarterback Blake Bortles in the offseason. "I'm told that Blake Bortles's future does not include the Jacksonville Jaguars," Ian Rapoport said on Up to the Minute Live. "Not that this is a surprise at all. But they are expected to move on from him in this offseason." It's "unlikely" they'll trade him after signing him to a three-year, $54 million deal last offseason, which included $26.5 million in guaranteed money and a $15 million signing bonus. If they release him, they'll take a $16.5 million dead-money salary cap hit. Bortles has been awful this year after leading the team to the AFC Championship a season ago, and he was benched in favor of Cody Kessler in Week 13. He has thrown 13 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and has 2,572 yards in 11 games this year to go along with a 46.8 QB rating. Bortles will try to latch on with another team as a backup if the Jags get rid of him.
