Jacoby Ellsbury Still Trying To Be Ready For Next Week
7 years agoAlthough the New York Yankees appear to be set on placing Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique) on the disabled list to begin the season, the veteran is still fighting to be ready for Opening Day. The former Red Sox player was slated to take batting practice Wednesday, followed by taking part in Thursday’s spring training game against the Minnesota Twins. Ellsbury went down with an oblique injury and has been struggling to return to action since. The 34-year-old is expected to be a bench player for the Yankees this year, with Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Brett Gardner and Aaron Hicks all ahead of him on the outfield depth chart.
