Jacob Wilson Launches First MLB Home Run
1 day agoAthletics shortstop prospect Jacob Wilson went 1-for-2 with a home run during their loss to the Chicago Cubs on Monday evening. Wilson hit his solo shot off young Chicago right-hander Ben Brown in the third inning. Later in the contest, he would tally his second RBI on a groundout. Wilson has tallied at least one hit in each of his first five games of the regular season. Across this stint, he posted a .294/.294/.471 slash line with just one extra-base hit, which was Monday's long ball. He has yet to strike out this season, but has also not drawn a walk. Wilson progressed through the minor leagues very quickly last season and was able to appear in 28 MLB games before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury. Through his first 33 MLB games, the former sixth overall pick has held a .257/.311/.339 line. He is worth starting in all deeper formats as a middle infielder, given his upside to provide a solid batting average.
