Jacob deGrom Strikes Out 14 On Thursday
Jacob deGrom struck out 14 batters over seven innings pitched in the Mets 4-3 loss to the Braves on Thursday. Almost implausibly, deGrom looked human and allowed three earned runs in the first inning, the only runs scored off of him in the contest. Exemplifying just how ridiculous deGrom's season has been, the Braves became the first team to score three earned runs against deGrom since the Nationals did so on September 26, 2020. He had not allowed more than two earned runs in any start this season (13 starts, including seven scoreless starts) before Thursday's contest. deGrom's ERA now stands at 0.95 on the season, to go with a WHIP of 0.54 and 136 strikeouts in 85 IP. deGrom remains a must-start, matchup-proof fantasy ace who is in the middle of a historic campaign.

Jacob deGrom Becomes Fastest Pitcher To Reach 1,700 Strikeouts
Jacob deGrom recorded his 1,700th strikeout in his 225th career game, making him the quickest ever to accomplish the feat. It came as part of an 8-1 win over the Mariners on Sunday, where deGrom allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings. The fact that he is the fastest ever to 1,700 strikeouts makes the imagination wonder where deGrom would stand in the history books if he hadn't missed significant time with injuries in the past four straight seasons, but the good news is that he is finally healthy again now. He hasn't looked quite as dominant as we're used to seeing, striking out just 36 batters in 38 innings so far this year, but he still holds an excellent 2.61 ERA and should be considered a must-start fantasy hurler.

Jacob deGrom Earns First Win Of Season Tuesday
Jacob deGrom picked up his first win of the season in Tuesday's 15-2 drubbing of the Athletics. deGrom pitched six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts. The 36-year-old has pitched well overall so far this season, going 1-1 with a 2.73 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and a 9.00 K/9 rate. While his peripherals have been excellent overall, they have not been quite as outstanding when compared to his career standards. However, deGrom has stayed healthy to this point, which is the biggest fantasy concern. He will look to keep things going in his next matchup, which will be a tougher one against a hot Mariners lineup.

Jacob deGrom Throws Five Scoreless Innings
Jacob deGrom made his season debut against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said ahead of time that deGrom would be limited to around 75 pitches in this game. Despite that, deGrom gave fantasy managers a strong outing on Sunday. He tossed five scoreless innings, allowing two hits, and striking out six batters in the win over Boston. This was a great start to the season for deGrom, but the key is keeping him healthy. That being said, fantasy managers shouldn't be shocked if the team continues to ease deGrom into things early in the season.

Jacob deGrom Expected To Throw 75 Pitches On Sunday
Jacob deGrom will likely only throw 75 pitches in his first start on Sunday afternoon against the Boston Red Sox. deGrom missed the majority of the 2024 campaign due to Tommy John surgery. He returned at the end of the campaign and logged just 10 2/3 innings of work. In spring training, deGrom was able to make three starts and logged 10 innings to the tune of a 4.50 ERA. Fantasy managers should monitor his status on Sunday, but it appears the Rangers will continue to slowly increase his workload as the 36-year-old has only pitched more than 90 innings in a single season once since 2020. Over the past three campaigns, deGrom has logged just 105 1/3 total innings to the tune of a stellar 2.82 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP. Even though he may be limited in this start, he should still be viewed as a high-end SP2 in all formats.
