Jacob deGrom Strikes Out 14 On Thursday
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom struck out 14 batters over seven innings pitched in the Mets 4-3 loss to the Braves on Thursday. Almost implausibly, deGrom looked human and allowed three earned runs in the first inning, the only runs scored off of him in the contest. Exemplifying just how ridiculous deGrom's season has been, the Braves became the first team to score three earned runs against deGrom since the Nationals did so on September 26, 2020. He had not allowed more than two earned runs in any start this season (13 starts, including seven scoreless starts) before Thursday's contest. deGrom's ERA now stands at 0.95 on the season, to go with a WHIP of 0.54 and 136 strikeouts in 85 IP. deGrom remains a must-start, matchup-proof fantasy ace who is in the middle of a historic campaign.
