Jacob deGrom Signs Five-Year Extension
6 years agoAfter New York Mets teammate Noah Syndergaard voiced his displeasure with the team over not signing him to a contract extension, starting pitcher Jacob deGrom has finally gotten his new contract. The reigning NL Cy Young winner signed a five-year, $137.5 million extension that will keep him in Flushing at least until age 35. The right-hander overtook Syndergaard as ace of the staff last season, going 10-9 but posting a 1.70 ERA. This Spring, most of the talk around deGrom has been regarding his contract and whether the Mets would sign him to an extension. He made five starts this past month, going 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA. With his contract situation sorted out, the 30-year-old can now focus on following up his incredible season.
