Jacob deGrom Pitching At Historic Levels
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom once again dominated his opponent on Saturday by throwing seven scoreless innings against the Padres in a Mets 4-0 victory. deGrom allowed only three hits and one walk while striking out 11. He improved to 5-2 on the season and dropped his ERA to a league-leading 0.62, the lowest ERA after nine starts in MLB history since 1913. His WHIP also fell to a ridiculous 0.57 and he now has 93 strikeouts in 58 innings pitched on the season. With his 11 strikeout performance, deGrom also moved past Sid Fernandez and into fourth place on the Mets all-time strikeouts list, behind just Tom Seaver, Doc Gooden, and Jerry Koosman. Stating the very obvious, deGrom remains a must-start, matchup-proof ace who should remain active in all formats as his historic season continues.
